@Jason D. Lol I said in my original post I am currently buying a duplex, and am going to start LLC for future income properties. Not the duplex I'll be living in/renting.

@Sen A. Hello, what do you mean by this? I haven’t seen anything in regards to this. How would I lose the tax advantages?

I'm in the process of buying my first duplex to house hack. I plan to buy more income properties in the future and it seems like it's the best idea to start a LLC after discussing with my accountant. Is there is naming strategies? How did you name your LLC?

Thank you!

I have a duplex under contract that recently sustained roof damage from a bad hail storm. Should I go with a shingle roof or metal roof? Does one add more value than the other?

I am working on closing a deal for a duplex to house hack. One side to be my primary residence. I got a call from bank mortgage company and they are telling me that the max loan they can give us 85% value. So I would be responsible for 15% down. The property is 269k under contract. It was to my understanding if one side of the duplex was my primary residence then it would qualify for conventional loan? Can anyone validate this or provide additional resources?

Thank you,

Jake

@Kyle Doney Thanks for the reply. It fits what I’m looking for personally and location wise which is why I might be willing to pay a little more and the opportunity to have to mortgage covered by tenants rent is a plus.

I have the opportunity to house hack a duplex. They are asking 275k for it. One side is a 2/2 the other side is 3/2. I plan to rent out the 3/2 and live in the 2/2. With the ability to house hack and have the mortgage covered by the tenants rent would you potentially pay a little more than you wanted to because you have the ability to pay the mortgage with the tenants rent? This is my first home purchase so I’m having some first time buyer jitters I think. Just curious what some other people think. Thank you all.
