I am looking to invest I have a Duplex that I have 1 low income tenant who has been there for 20 years and has been a great tenant. I am looking to expand my portfolio and one of the things I have always wanted to do since getting out of the Marines was help veterans. I am wondering if anyone has any experience in Low income or veteran housing and grants and opportunities in that area? I am looking to primarily be in Vermont as I know the area well, but am open to other states if I find the right partners to work with.

I know that there are some grants out there for helping, and some loans as well that may help with building or purchasing and rehabbing for low income housing. If anyone has any information on this it would be greatly appreciated even if you can point me in the direction of where I should look to go.

I'm more of a long term rental person, but I purchased a Duplex through a real estate agent named James Gunger who I will use again for my next purchas. I also have a contact with a property management company in Burlington if you need any contact info send me a private message and I can get you in touch.

I closed on my first property in June and am currently looking at options for my next property. My goal is to find 2 more properties (to start in a similar area to where I purchased my first one.) I purchased a Duplex.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on something they would have done differently going from property 1 to 2/3. Thank you!

I currently owner occupy my Duplex but intend to move out in the next 6 months and put it up for rent.

Thanks for the reply. My goal is to grow my private capital while also continually marketing deals. I am in the process of purchasing my first duplex on my own but have been reading a lot of books and articles on investing. I'm very driven and have ideas where I want to see myself in 5, 10 and 15 years. I don't want to limit myself to Vermont for the long term but I feel for the short term it's best to start in a state that I'm in.

That being said do you find in your experiences in the area that syndication is the best way to build personal wealth while doing a BRRRR method on my own? Or are there other methods to increase personal wealth while starting out?

I currently am in the early phases of BRRRR method with a duplex but have an unquenchable thirst when it comes to learning everything I can here in the process. I have multiunit management experience I have learned from times as a Billeting manager in the Marines, as well as leadership and other management experience with that through Enterprise. I'm interesting in becoming a syndicator as it sounds like a role that would not only fit me but be enjoyable. Does anyone have any advice on getting started as a Syndicator? Ideally I'm looking in Vermont as there is a growing need for multifamily housing but I'm open to much more.
