Mason, while permitting and code enforcement in St Pete proper are definitely challenging, you can still do well down there with the right deal. I would, however, recommend staying on your side of the bay for your first few so you can stay close and learn as much as possible. There is a lot of opportunity in eastern Hillsborough and in tampa.
