@Joe Houlihan I just worked with investors doing the same thing and they purchased a duplex in Mystic. With that budget you can definitely find something decent that will command a strong rent. I don’t think you have anything to worry about with rents they’re continuing to rise and for a good spot you can easily get 2,000-3,000 a month or even higher. Be mindful that Stonington has a ordinance about short term rentals (less than 30 days). They don’t enforce it usually but it’s on the books. Should you do short term though you can clean up in this area during the summer months.

Rhode Island prices are sky high right now and it’s much harder to find value there. The best bang for your buck is Pawcatuck/Stonington area. If you need a hand looking for something just let me know I can send you some listings I’m licensed in both CT and RI.

I am interested in investing in a multifamily in the Norwich area. I am wondering if its a mistake to A: select a town with such high taxes, and B: selecting a duplex instead of saving a bit more and purchasing a three family. Any advice would be appreciated as this would be my first attempt
