@Reginald Ross Thanks for the insight, my plan was to do both the steps you mentioned so work both sides.

I hadn't thought about taking a finance class though, that's next on the list just to get as much of an understanding as possible.

@John Todderud That's a very strong point about how the government may impact the ownership of larger properties. I'll make it a point to look into it more in my metros

Thank you!

@Jeffrey Donis Appreciate the books and podcast recommendations! About to add something new to my library.

Thank you!

Apologies, this post is a bit unrelated to MF. I meant to post in "New Member Intros".

Hi, it's Jaylen! Just wanted to make this post and introduce myself to the BP community. I'm from Houston, Texas, and currently taking a break from college because I wasn't engaged at the time. However, I wanted to continue learning so I looked more into real estate investing as a way to create a path for myself and expand into other fields I'm passionate about, such as health and wellness.

My goal is to build up both businesses into companies that work to create solutions for our environment, the less fortunate or lower-income, provide jobs, better our food system, and inspire those like me to think bigger and know it's possible.

Thank you to everyone that's here and I hope to add value inside the forums and continue making this a place to give knowledge and push our peers forward.

Hi! My name is Jaylen and I decided to get started with residential and commercial multifamily. What are some things to look at first to decide whether something is a deal or not, instead of spending excess time on it? Would it be a good idea to look at those factors at a different angle using something like creative financing to turn the numbers in your favor?
