@Neil Henderson oh man! I got excited for a moment, I thought you are based in Maui. We do want to self manage but I'm just unsure of the logistics part not having a co-host. I think it would be an easier transition if we can find a co-host. Have you always self-managed your STR properties? or have you used a PM in the past?

@John Underwood @Michael Baum Thank you for your reply. I will definitely call some cleaning companies but was hoping I can network here to get some referrals. I'd rather work with a company that has been referred by someone in the BP community.

@Patrick Franta thank you for your guidance. Do you know of anyone who can Co-host a property? I'm a little unsure of how self-managing will work without someone who can be on the ground to check the work that is being done by the cleaners or handyman. I know it's super important to have a great cleaning crew. I am also aware that we might have to go through a couple of cleaning companies before we find the one that really fits our needs unless we get lucky and find one on our first try. What about other errands like buying supplies. I guess I can ask the cleaners as well but it seems like a co-host would be a better alternative.

Hi Everyone,
I would like to ask for some advice. We have a condo in Maui that we rent out using a PM. We've been with them for a while because they are the lowest we found that charge 20%, there are some that charges between 30%-40%. The problem is there is a lot of add on's and we can't build a relationship with the renters. We have been thinking of self-managing and maybe finding a co-host.
- Does any of you have experience in self-managing an STR with a co-host?
- What % is fair to pay a co-host?
- Can the co-host help find cleaners and handyman or would this be our responsibility?
- Can you recommend a co-host in Lahaina?
We have no experience self-managing a vacation property but is very eager to learn. Thank you all for your advice and recommendations.
