@Michael Baum additional insights from those who have first-hand experience about the area. I'm an avid researcher. More intel the better :) @Michael Baum
@Michael Baum and @Account Closed Thank you so much for your insights and for confirming my thoughts. I had the same feeling after visiting the area and perusing the STR sites. The buy-in is too high for the nightly rate you would receive. There are also environmental factors to consider as well. Regarding Big Bear, it's been on my radar but it seems oversaturated and there is a lot of competition.
I really appreciate your feedback! As a new investor, you can doubt yourself at times, so I'm grateful to have this community.

Any STR Owners in Idyllwild, CA? I just started looking in this area but I can't gauge how much demand it is getting. I know everyone suggests Airdna but I'm leary of how they are calculating their numbers. Any help is much appreciated!

@Account Closed Thank you so much for providing insight into the EIDL process. Unfortunately, my application was declined after receiving the $1k grant. I think I may have filled it out incorrectly. The reason for the denial was "1. Your economic injury is less than the amount you received from the EIDL Advance. As a result, we are unable to substantiate any additional eligibility at this time.
2. The information you submitted does not indicate an economic injury."
We had to shut down during our peak season and lost a significant amount of income. I entered our operating expenses for 2019 and the loan amount needed to cover lost income. I entered $0 for COGS. I'm wondering if this is what caused the denial? Do you remember what information you provided on your application? I contacted SBA to contest their decision and reapply.

I actually just realized that article was from 2016. There was some progress made in January. http://sbcsentinel.com/2020/01/last-of-the-serranos/

@William Norton wow, how does the city justify that salary? Thanks for the info on Phoenix Project, what a mess. I guess the new unnecessary Starbucks was not a part of it.

Thanks, @Samuel Gostnell I'm definitely taking a long-term rental option into consideration.
