Do you think there will be a flood of foreclosures from the economic shutdown? If so, do you think it will drive the prices of real estate down? Banks also hold on to foreclosures and slowly release their inventories to avoid saturating the market and driving prices down.

@Scott Bell I specialize in courthouse auctions. Each state is different with regards to things like right of redemption, liens, etc. The due diligence would be a title search, which you can do yourself with the county clerk public records, to search for any liens. You also want to make sure the mortgage lender is selling the property and not a third party auctioning off a lien. And you want to check out the property as much as possible, to make sure it hasn’t burnt down, but if it’s occupied you don’t want to be seen peaking through the windows.
