Post: 401k Loan for Down Payment

Hi,

I know one strategy is to borrow from the 401k .  I was thinking of doing this to put down the 20% down payment on my next deal.

I don't currently have a deal in the works.  I just want to hear the pros and cons from anyone who has done this.

I can get a 5% employer based where the interest I pay back to myself.

The question is say the house is 150k....It is really a 180k loan.   Not sure the Cash flow would be very good for that unless you got a supreme deal.  Has anyone done this?

Thanks,

John

Long term horizon bump in the road as long as you have a "solid"  portfolio or individual stock.

Yeah scary but Im holding on, happens every so often.

Welcome, @John Renna! I'm just down the road from your Knox property - so glad to see another TN investor on BP!

A few tips that may be helpful to you here on the Bigger Pockets website:

You can set up keyword alerts so anytime someone posts about any of the other markets you're evaluating, you'll be notified. That could be a great way to find and stay engaged with local investors, realtors and opportunities. http://www.biggerpockets.com/alerts

You can also search for other investors or brokers in your market and follow their journey on Bigger Pockets here: https://www.biggerpockets.com/search/users

Best of luck to you and look forward to following your success on BP!

Thanks for th welcome and advice!
