How much did you get the abandoned property for? Or was it just given to you?

Thanks @Account Closed the little that I've looked into both they both seem to be great markets with a lot of competition. The only reason we are leaning a little more towards Charlotte is it's only about two hours from our current office and home town, whereas Atlanta is about three hours. Not a big deal to me but more to my family.

Well my main business is going to be doing real estate, well opening an office there first and then the rehabs and rentals will come. It's going to be in the future just wanting to get input so we can start planning and looking at a certain market to target. It's a small family run business so this expanding is a whole new ball game to us! Thanks @Cindy Bowman

Were considering expanding into a larger market as a next step for my families business. Curious to see which market you guys consider to be better for real estate sales and also buy and hold (possible rehabs)? Charlotte, NC or Atlanta, GA?

If you're going to be doing multiple rehabs at a time or a lot back to back I would find a small contractor who you trust and tell them they can do all of your work for all of your flips and most of the time they will give you good rates since you give them so much business. But still shop around first.

If you're looking to get into the business my best advice would be to either find a good mentor who is a seasoned investor or real estate professional. I would recommend getting your real estate license. It's fairly cheap and doesn't take a lot of time. You can meet people that are kind of in the same boat as you. Plus when you finish you won't need an agent to go around and show you houses you are interested in, you can show yourself. Then on top of that you can make money helping others find homes, so you can make money while you learn. If you don't get your license just make sure you always have a contract in writing, I heard a story once where a guy found a motivated seller and a buyer and when he told them he found the other they just communicated and cut him out.. So make sure it's on paper! Best of luck!
