Potentially I could do virtual service for developers in the future!..... I think you might be right Ed, I do still have the employee mentality. I have invested myself in a property which is showings good return but I dont feel I am ready to go full time. I will read cash flow quadrant, thanks for the tip!

Hi Guys,
Looking for a little direction! Engineer by trade working for a small real estate developer in SF. Essentially I manage mostly condo projects (10 to 100 units) from inception to completion in the city with a few remodels thrown in for good measure.
I enjoy the industry but I have reached the limit of where I can go in my current company. I would like to get deeper into the development planning, site selection and land acquisition. Currently I am involved in all aspects but I am still heavily involved in the nitty gritty of all the projects. Therefore I don't get to focus on the bigger picture as much as what I believe each project needs to optimize investment and streamline the process.
Now for the advice!
Should I look to one of the larger developers for a more corporate setting? Will they be open to a technical person moving into business management? Will I need need an MBA to climb in this setting?
OR
Should I search for a smaller developer looking for a right hand to expand and grow his portfolio with a view to entering the market myself in a few years if the opportunity was to arise.
Looking forward to your responses!
