Hello Everyone,
I feel silly asking this but I meant what I said when I mentioned I was very very new to this. I am currently deployed and I need a trustworthy accountant from CT to assist me with my taxes this year. I own a single family property with tenants, and this past year I poured a lot of money into the property after I had family cause a lot of damage to it. I also have to cover some of the mortgage every month and I pay the water bill. I'm looking for someone who is familiar with these deductions. I feel if I use the tax software myself I might miss out on things. Can anyone provide some guidance on how I go about finding someone I can trust?

@David Pere I actually just read these they were great! I want to do the house hacking with my first VA loan. I have a buddy who just used his VA home loan to do purchase a multi family apartment and he is renting out the other units he doesn't live in. My concern is that I am planning on applying and attending law school after this deployment. I know it will be lengthy process and It would take about a year for me to find a school, study and do the LSAT, and applications. I want to attend a school out of state would I get penalized for moving away for school if I have lived in the property as a primary residence for at least a year ? I want to create cash flow to help sustain me while I'm in school (on top of my post 9/11 GI bill benefits). What are your thoughts?

@Adam Cade Thank you Adam and likewise, thank you for your service. I actually think it’s better to have waited and to do your homework before jumping in! Purchasing a home without any basic understanding of the market or real estate in general was such a costly mistake. I guess I am having trouble finding a good “starting point”. There’s so much information and it’s like what is step 1?

Hello everyone! I am a newbie in every since of the word but here to make some new connections and to learn as much as I can about investing in real estate. I have to admit there is so much to cover and it is a little overwhelming, however, from what I have read this seems to be a very supportive community. I am 26, and have been in the military for 7 years now. I'm currently on a deployment and really want to hit the ground running when I go home with my VA Home Loan in purchasing a multi family property. I was referred to this website from a friend I met here and I have truly been enjoying learning through all of the free material, articles, and blog posts. I currently have a single family house that I bought when I was 22 with my first time home buyers loan. To be frank when I purchased this property I really had no idea what I was doing and have gone through a lot of growing pains as a result. I'm looking to sell that property and really do this the right way the second time around. Thanks for taking the time to read my very first post. I look forward to connecting with new people and continuing to learn as much as I can.
