Post: If BiggerPockets had "groups" like Facebook would you use them?

I've noticed a fair number of investors, even those who use BP, don't use Facebook or other social media. This got me thinking that a "groups" feature on BP so we can form and run groups to organize, communicate, share deals, and keep in touch might be useful. Any thoughts? Any BP staff got the inside scoop on how feasible something like this is down the road?

Looking for someone who can take care of small scale issues quickly.
For example: fixing leaky sinks, patching a hole in drywall, fixing broken shelves, etc. Essentially any small thing my tenant randomly calls me about that can be handled by a single person.

It took me 5 years from being interested in REI to buying my first property. When I got interested in real estate I was at my financial rock bottom, maxed credit cards, maxed student loans, $12 per hour job, no savings.
Rich Dad Poor Dad gave me the perspective shift to turn things around, but it took 5 years before I was in a position to buy my first property. During that time I attended Bigger Pockets meetups, read books on investing, and practiced analyzing deals.

@Jin Lee congrats! What town/area are you in?
Thanks for the feedback, I am definitely doing most of the work myself but haven't considered BRRR or other loan/grant options. For the grants/loans, have you gotten one? What was that experience?
I'm currently in Southside, not a wealthy area by any means, but the people have been very friendly so far.
I got a $4,000 grant on a house that fell through a week before closing a few years ago so I never actually used the money, but this time around I'm applying for a $9,000 grant to replace windows and doors on the property. It is a first come first serve kind of deal, but the programs refill with funds periodically so its good to keep in contact with Home Headquarters to see what is available in your area. Feel free to reach out directly if you ever want to chat RE. Down the road when my rehab is completed I'd like to start up a Bigger Pockets Real Estate Meetup in Syracuse. Seems like there haven't been any for a while.

Sounds like you have a similar plan to me. I also have a househack in Syracuse, just closed 2 weeks ago.
Slimming down your improvement budget might help a bit. Doing some DIY improvements instead of hiring them out could help your CoC a bit.
Another option is to look into home improvement grants/loans. Keep more cash for investing. Home headquarters has some 1% home improvement loans for a few areas of Syracuse.
Instead of moving out of your househack, have you thought about trying the BRRRR method? $40k is a good chunk of money, maybe not quite enough to BRRRR but going 50/50 with a partner, family member, or private lender you might be able to make it work and speed up your rate of acquisition.Just a thought.

I'm not sure if I can make it to this one as I'm in the middle of a renovation, but I'm definitely interested in attending. Does this meetup usually have a good number of attendees?
