Hey BP Community,

I was reading about how to analyze deals on BP, and stumbled across a term I've never heard before. Equity Accrual is a component of Total Return. But what exactly does Equity Accrual mean?

Thanks,

Kedus Meheretu

@Chris Martin and @J Scott Thanks guys! Both explanations really helped out! So an Equity Partner is just like a partner, and similar to a venture capitalist. A debt partner is a lender.

Thank You,

Kedus Meheretu

@Account Closed Getting insight from experienced investors is the best way to learn about RE Investing. So far, everyone I've contacted has helped me out in some way.

Thanks for replying!

Hey BP Community!

I'm trying to learn about RE Investing. I'm 14. I've heard the term "Equity Partner" a few times recently. I don't really understand how Equity Partners work. Can someone please explain this to me?

Thanks,

Kedus Meheretu

@Karen Margrave Thank you for the compliment! Easier said then done right!

Joining BP was the first step, but I've got to persevere for the rest of this journey in order to do so.

Karen, if you don't mind me asking: What does it mean to be a moderator on the site? I'm just curious.

@Wendell De Guzman Definitely! The shameless plug is welcome considering your out there living my dream man!

@Account Closed Awesome! Yeah, I think having the parents co-sign is a great idea. Set ground rules up front and standards to abide by~ got it! BTW Do you have any advice on contacting a RE mentor? My parents don't really want me going to a REIA until I'm older (18+). Will that deter my success in your opinion?

@Karen Margrave Yea thanks! I've already been looking into the UBG & I'm lovin' it! I've taken notes on a few of the chapters already! I can't wait to parlay all of that knowledge into action when I get older.

@Riley F. The tagging didn't work on the previous post. Make sure to read my reply! Thanks for all of the help bud!

@Amit M. I'm not familiar with that book but, I will make sure to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.

@Riley F. I think getting hands some hands on experience will be very beneficial. I agree that being financially intelligent will go a long way. I will definitely learn accounting and MS Excel. I highly agree with changing the way I think. That is the first thing I should establish before I go on any investing endeavors. I need to offer something to a mentor. I would work for free if I could get some experience and learn. You've given me great advice. I really appreciate it.

It means a lot me that people who are doing what I want to do everyday, actually care and would give me advice!

@Chris Winterhalter Thanks for the advice!

I will look into internships in my area. My age may restrict me, but i'll see how it works. So far I have been learning about residential. I still have not learned much about commercial. I have heard of The Real Book of Real Estate by Robert Kiyosaki. I have read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, which a lot of people tend to start out with. I can get my hands on The Real Book of real estate.

Thanks a lot Chris!

Hello Bigger Pockets community!

My name is Kedus Meheretu. I'm 14 years old and I want to become a real estate investor. I've been learning about real estate investing for several months now, but have just made a Bigger Pockets account. I have to say I LOVE Bigger Pockets! It has been such a useful resource with helping me learn the ins and outs of real estate investing. Real Estate Investing seems like the ideal investment to me considering the residual income, leverage, appreciation, etc.

I would really appreciate advice from anyone on BP that's willing to give me some.

What books should I read? What articles or posts on the site should I read? What strategies do you use? What niches do you invest in? How did you start? What mistakes did you make?

I would love to hear your stories, experiences, and words of wisdom!

Thanks!
