You might also check with a Realtor or Broker that actually manages rental properties and can give you some indepth information on a specific market and rental rates in that market if you are plannng on holding the investment.

Lubbock is a great town. We're in our own bubble here compared to the rest of the Country. Rentals will stay full here.

Lubbock, Texas is a fantastic market with or without the Texas Tech students . Things rent quickly and can easily be preleased with a quick turnover time . As far as property taxes…..You can always protest your property taxes if they increase to much from one year to the next. Doesn’t always work but worth the time to try .

Lubbock is a great town to invest in. Properties do not need to be in walking distance of the university to still be in high demand for college students. Things rent quickly here with or without the college kids factored in.

I own a property management company here in Lubbock and happy to answer any questions you might have to help you get started. Make sure your insurance rates dont change if you become a LLC. One of my owners was limited by that issue.

I would try knocking on the door first. ( don't want to scare them off with paperwok when you show up) Best to check out the options first.

Look on the Lubbock Central Appriasal District website. lubbockcad.org You can search the address and see who the owner is and if they owe any back taxes. If the owner of record lives at that address you might go to the door and talk to them. If the owner of record has their bills sent to a different address they are most likely and investor or another family member. You could send a letter to the different address that the tax bills are sent to.
