Post: Part Time Job to Learn Real Estate

Quote from @Stephanie Belen:

Hi @Kristen Beahm! I know this question was posted 7 years ago.  But Im curious to know what you ended up doing.  I find myself in your position now.  I work 9-5 job but with this inflation, I feel as though I need to pick up a part-time weekend job.  Like you, I dream of investing in real estate in the future when I have enough.  But what better way to learn real estate and make some pocket money, by getting a part-time job in the industry.

@Peter Mckernan & @Joshua D.. how would I go about in finding jobs for these? Sorry if it's a dumb question. I am super new and still trying to get to know terminology.  What turnkey is, what realtors actually do day to day, escrow/title and what all that encompasses.  I do not have a real estate license.  Would these jobs require one?

Thank you in advance!

Hi! I actually am a full time agent now and have been for 4 years! From this perspective, it'd be helpful to approach an investor friendly agent to see if they need any kind of assistant (i.e. errands, bookkeeping, showing assistant, marketing, etc.). Some of these activities involve a license depending on your market, but not all!

Hi @Ian Barger! I just closed a deal yesterday with an FHA buyer in the St. Louis area. It was a single family home, but an FHA loan won the deal nonetheless! Are you working with a buyer's agent yet? If not, I'd love to chat and help brainstorm a strategy for you!

Hi @Sana! Congrats on your first rental unit! What part of St. Louis are you in? We have lots of municipalities here that all have their own occupancy inspection guidelines.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear this especially in that neighborhood! What are you asking for rent?

Yikes! I'm in St. Louis, but some municipalities here have sewer assistance programs. May be worth looking into it. Good luck!

Hey Dakota! We truly don't see multi-family units hit the market in St. Charles County often. If you're open to expanding your search perhaps to the city, we see many more options there!
