Travis White, you've described my current situation pretty much exactly.

I am moving to Conroe in less than 2 weeks and plan on buying my first investment property in the area by June.

I've been doing research and getting my financials in order over the last 6 months and am finally ready to make the plunge. I'm facing a little analysis paralysis, so I know I just to go by the numbers and dive in when it makes sense. I'm planning on doing BRRRR on my first deal and would definitely be interested in your experience working with a flooded property.

Mike Reynolds Howdy neighbor! Good to see another local here. Will definitely get myself up to Longview at the first available opportunity. I've already learned a tremendous amount just lurking the forums the last few days and am thankful for the hospitality and warm greetings.
Tom Keith Thank you I'm happy to be here! I just read both of the Brandon Turner books and am currently reading "Set For Life." Will make it a priority to get to the J Scott books as soon as I finish this one. I would love to come to the REI meeting at some point. I'm currently stuck at a job site in Northern Oklahoma probably for another 4-6 weeks, but as soon as time allows it I will plan to make it up there. Would love to meet some BP members face to face and just absorb as much knowledge as I can! I haven't yet gotten to the blogs or podcasts yet either so I will make sure to start including then in my daily study. I appreciate the advice!
Thank you for the hospitality Seth! I wish you well in your endeavors.
Hello everyone, My name is Kyle Allen and I am currently in the planning and saving phase of my Real Estate journey! I am planning on transitioning from my current job in the oil field to full time real estate investor over the next 5-10 years. Currently living in East Texas. I would like to purchase my first rental property early next year and am on track to do that with my savings. The next 6 months or so I plan on spending the majority of my free time educating myself on the business and trying to minimize rookie mistakes that I might make. I am currently wrapping my head around cash flow and trying to get a strong grasp on the numbers and what I need to make them work. In the mean time any advice you (the greater community) can give me as a new investor would be greatly appreciated! I am particularly interested in methods for analyzing and choosing a market to invest in. Books, articles etc on this subject would be awesome or just some advice! I would like to invest in the Texas market and try to stay in East Texas if possible. I've heard Houston is a great market to invest in and wouldn't be against starting near there. Again though I'm open to suggestions and advice and appreciate you taking the time to read my first thread! Thank you very much BP community!
