Anyone in the Long Island, NY area have success renting out their homes? Still in the process of my first deal, but I love the idea of house hacking.

@Maxwell Frenkel if you are looking close to the city, I would consider areas on Long Island, Astoria and Long Island City. I feel renting is growing on the Island, simply because many young individuals cannot afford to buy a house. I plan to purchase a multiplex, that needs some work, and house hack as well.

@Clayton Bourgeois Appreciate the info. yes a mother daughter is a single family home with a legal apartment. Usually a finished basement with a separate entrance.

Hi guys,
I’m looking for a new home and love the idea of house hacking by purchasing a mother/daughter or a multiplex. I came across one multiplex in the Pat-Medford area going for 315k. Definitely will need some TLC. What are the rents going for out on the Island? Also any areas that are considered hot spots to buy? I am a first time buyer and I am trying to finally kick out off my real estate career. Any info helps, thank you!
