Wow wee! thank you both Susan and John! it's great to hear that i'm not crazy for thinking about doing this at my age!

Susan I’d love to meet you, maybe sometime when your here I could buy you dinner or something. Only if it’s convenient for you. 😊

And I might hit you up with a few questions about the brrrr strategy.

Thanks so much for the feedback, I’m encouraged 😁

Thanks Andrew!  What kind of investing do you do?

I'll check that out. what kind of investing do you do? i first thought about flipping but now something like the BRRRR sounds better, i need to get a better understanding of leverage and the risks of using debt. mainly, cuz i'm older and don't have thirty years to recover. like some younger folks on here.

hi Aaron, I'm curious about your cleaning business. because this is what i do. i started a solo cleaning biz in pittsburgh about ten years ago. do you have employees? or are you solo? cleaning is a great money maker, you should be earning more. even for a starting out solo cleaner you should be getting more like 25 an hour. maybe you could raise your rates. i started my biz due to a family emergency and and went from stay at home mom with zero income to sole provider in a few months with a mortgage and six kids and my mom to support ( no child support either) I'm not sure of your market in WV but the cleaning job could be a way to bring in more money and save A lot since your so young and don't have as many expenses. this could be a way to better your credit score and save for real estate investing. also i've mentioned my real estate ambitions to a couple customers an they were like "i'd flip a house with you" or " you would be great at that maybe i could be a financial partner" like wow, you never know. in that business people with money get to know, like and trust you.I'm just a solo cleaner but i've done pretty well considering. if you need any advice let me know. it could be a good way to transition from one thing to another. and offering some free cleaning in return for mentorship is a great idea. i'm considering doing this myself.

Hi everyone,

I'm so thankful i found BiggerPockets and for all the great info and support here! So I'm from Pittsburgh, have zero experience, I clean house for a living and a weekend warrior on the weekends. I'm 53, happily married wife and mother of seven and seven grandkids!  I'm at a crossroads and i need a change as well as a path to retirement. I was seriously considering making my solo cleaning biz into a real cleaning company. Listened to a lot of podcasts joined a facebook group and started loosing sleep over it! yikes! i really started hating the idea. then one day i heard someone say something about being passionate about your business or your entrepreneurial dreams, and i said to myself, i should flip a house! I've always wanted too but never thought i was possible, and i could get excited about that! so then i started searching on google and youtube and found BP. now my goals are maybe some flipping, and rental properties. just started listening to Brandon Turners book on the subject today while i was cleaning, it's awesome! So my goals for this year are to keep listening, reading ( got both J Scott's books too) webinars, REIAs , maybe get my real estate license and find a mentor, maybe find my first deal. I'm really looking forward to meeting up and finding real estate investors in the burgh and getting a grip on exactly where to start and making a solid plan.
