Wow,

Thanks for the affirmation Josh. It feels as if the Godfather just let me kiss his hand :)

We'll start with Rich Dad Poor Dad, since that's a book that everyone's probably familiar with. It'll be a good test for the format. There are ten chapters (Introduction plus 9 chapters). I'll send out the first message this Sunday around 9 PM PST (12 AM Monday EST) under the header "BP Book Club: Rich Dad Poor Dad - Introduction" and then follow it up with a new post every 2-3 days. The goal will be to try to go through about a book a month.

Looking forward to trying this out.

Hey everyone,

I know that in the BP podcasts, Josh and Brandon always ask their guests what their favorite real estate and business books are. In the same vein, I was wondering if there was currently a Bigger Pockets book club going on. If not, I wanted to offer to start one on the forums. I thought it might be a cool way for us to learn together.

As an initial idea, I was thinking that we could discuss one chapter a day. Maybe everyone could share a favorite quote/passage and a brief insight or thought about the chapter? We could start with some of the most recommended books from the podcast, like Rich Dad Poor Dad or 4-Hour Work Week.

What do you all think? Good idea? Bad idea? Idea that somehow violates BP rules in a way that I'm unaware of?

Happy Birthday Brandon! You rock!

Thanks for the kind welcome everybody! I knew that BP had a vibrant community, but it feels good to experience it for myself. I'd love to follow up with each of you individually, but I'm not sure how to do that yet. Perhaps I'll learn more once I take the "How To Use Bigger Pockets" webinar :)

In the meantime, I've followed each of you. I hope that's not an improper thing to do. On a side note, I was especially excited to get a shout-out from you Brandon. I know you welcome everybody, but after hearing your voice almost every day for the past couple months, you've become a bit of a rock star to me. Thank you for all of the knowledge you've already imparted upon me. I look forward to this next leg of my investing journey.

Post: Residential Land Broker/Agent in Wake Forest, NC?

Hi,

My wife and I just moved to North Carolina, and our family was planning on purchasing a large piece of land on which different members of the family could each build their own residences. We want to buy in the Wake Forest, NC area and are looking for a real estate agent/broker who is experienced with handling land deals in that area. We need someone who's familiar with the local zoning laws and will be able to advise us with regards to the different nuances pertaining to land purchases (i.e. perc tests, easements, means of subdivision, etc...) Would anyone know of any leads? Thanks for the consideration.

Hi,

My name is Lenny Liang. A few days ago, I moved to North Carolina from Maryland. Over the past 6 months, I've been voraciously consuming Bigger Pockets content (especially the excellent podcasts). I told myself that once I moved to North Carolina, I would join the BP community and begin investing in real estate.

This is me fulfilling the first part of that goal. My house in MD goes on the market in the next couple days. After it sells, I plan to invest part of my equity in real estate. In the meantime, I am trying to learn my new area and hopefully make some meaningful local connections.

Thanks for having me! I look forward to engaging with you.
