You have to be careful and not cross the border with the law regarding familial status.

I would stick to financial and credit requirements to determine eligibility for the apt.

Do credit and background checks on both and let them pay. the links below will help.

If they don't qualify, use this failure to move to the next tenant. But, don't reject because of kids or other familial relations....it's illegal.

Welcome to BiggerPockets, a place to interact with a vibrant REI group, learn the real estate business and language at near zero cost. It doesn't matter if you are young or old, totally new or need to build upon your experience.

Yes, you have just announced a commitment to the thousands in this community about

your seriousness regarding REI and have taken this bold step to affirm it.

Your time on this site and with the BiggerPockets community will be well spent and can be financially rewarding if you so desire.

You are here at the Forum, but, should raise your mouse to the top and explore the other

headings displayed.

Don't get overwhelmed by the massive amount of data archived on this site.

Simply, bone up on the areas that you need to expand knowledge in such as, Forums,

Marketplace, Learn, Network, Analyze, Resources.

Feast on the Podcasts, #askbp Podcasts, blogs, webinars and the myriad of book

recommendations.

Also, you can review the quick links below to help solidify your grip on this site.

After becoming more knowledgeable and confident because of my above suggestions,

take action to snag your first real estate investment deal if new or add to your

existing holdings if you have prior experience.

Don't get caught up in analysis paralysis.

You must immerse yourself in the RE marketplace locally in your neighborhood or afar if the situation warrants it.

Take calculated risks if needed and you shall be rewarded!

Thanks for sharing this article.

The author has cherry picked the pieces that negatively supports his line of reasoning.

Additionally, there is no guarantee that everyone who invested in stocks would see a positive return as quoted.

So, it depends on the drive, plan, creativity and mindset of the individual.

It's a known fact that most of the millionaires made/secured their wealth through RE and not the stock market.

Looking back at the author's path to home ownership, he could have re-calibrated his steps and do creative REI investing to make himself whole.

The author's story sounds like a good one to tell, generate laughter and lively conversations, but, I am not convinced with his line of reasoning about home ownership.

@Scot Howat - Exposure of his experience is good therapy for him, and that's ok.

But, as @Steve Smith said "Takes a lot of courage to post that you lost"

So, as I have said before some people are comfortable about airing their failures and others are not.

Our discourse will end at infinity without any wrong or right affirmation.

I look forward to reading and/or commenting on your future posts.
