The IRS is charged with the responsibility to collect the fines or penalties. There is no provision in Obamacare to re-distribute the fines to the Insurance companies, or any other entity, based on any criteria, including J. Scott's admittedly unfounded speculation. If anyone can provide documentation of such a provision, then prove me wrong. Therefore, unless I am proven wrong, or until there is a change in current policy, the Government is keeping it.

What, Obama not honoring a campaign promise? Do you mean that he is just like every other politician? Say it isn't so!

You have four things going against you:
1. He can't or won't pay
2. I assume he is out of business and is not personally liable for the debt of his company
2. He filed bankruptcy to get out of paying
3. He has a shyster running interference.
The first is enough to kill any chances of coming out square. I just had a situation earlier this year where a real stand-up guy owed me $12,500 and couldn't pay. His response was that I could sue him, but he doesn't have the money and he is out of business. Just good money after bad.

This season has been based on who is the least worst contestant. On top of that, Simon is leaving, Kara is extremely annoying, and Ellen is out of her depth. Lee is a decent singer and improving performer who we probably won't hear from again after he wins (per Simon's edict), except for a possible future guest appearance on Idol, which by then no one will be watching.

To answer your question, I believe that the collective "We" will never learn. Some have already learned or always knew. Some will learn when it gets bad enough. But the majority will never learn and will be angry that they can't keep on spending or receiving what they don't earn. The Greeks are harbingers of things to come (no big revelation there).

J Scott,
I don't disagree with anything you have said. The journalist was more interested in catching the Senator looking at "porn" than catching him not doing his job. I assumed it was obvious that I was being facetious in the segment you referenced; perhaps not. My point was that we should expect our representatives to do their jobs to the best of their abilities serving their constituent's interests, it just doesn't surprise me when they don't.

The last time I was in Cancun, I happened to "glance" at a couple of women who were topless on the beach. I guess I didn't realize that what I was viewing was pornography. What he was looking at used to be called "nudie" pictures, but for the sake of sensationalism the "journalist" labeled it porn. As far as I'm concerned, who cares if some old fart finds the boobs on his laptop more interesting than the boobs in the Senate. Yes, we should expect more from our elected officials, but I don't.

Short Sales. All of the REOs that I have looked at in my area in the first time home buyer price range have been overpriced dumps.

Regarding Tom's reference to Richard Carlson's book, I think he combined two of his book titles: "Don't Worry, Make Money" and "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff...And It's All Small Stuff". Both are good reads. Regarding giving to charities or causes, I agree with the sentiment that giving with no expectation of return is the only true charity.
