@sebastian that’s hard to say; I’m not opposed to investing on the west side but I’d need to get a better feel for that area first. My plan is to “house hack” a duplex in Asbury and build equity as a means of financing other deals. So, if I’m going to be living there for some time; I would need to feel comfortable. My experience on the west side is too limited to answer as of now.

I'm relatively new to real estate and Asbury Park is an area I've begun looking into as well. I frequent the east side all the time because I love the food and the feel of the town. I don't have the money to invest just yet, but I hope to start in Asbury Park soon. 

It's not unreasonable to think that the appreciation of the east side will spill over into the west side. After all, the east side used to be a pretty rough area but now it's up and coming.
