Aloha BP community,

I am looking to purchase a home in Oahu, HI with little to no money down and I found out that I am eligible for a USDA loan. I read some of the requirements and see that the house has to be your primary residence. I am wondering if anyone has purchased a home using this loan and knows if after a certain amount of time you can then rent out the property? If anybody has experience/advice on whether or not using a USDA loan is good idea for a buy and hold it would be greatly appreciated.

Mahalo,

Matt

Thank you for the welcome @Desi Arnaz! I am very new to all this and have not heard of the term mortgage note. But I look forward to looking into it. Thanks for the info! I will check out your profile as well!

Thanks @Account Closed for the heads up. I wasn't planning on signing up for any courses, his book was simply as you said a tool that changed my perspective. I've always learned best hands on so I plan on continuing to research and learn while getting my feet wet. I appreciate the welcome and the advice!

Greetings @Michael Borger!

I am so new to the concept of real estate investing that I haven't quite pointed myself in a single direction. I'm still learning about the various types. If your interested I would love to meet with you sometime and ask you about what you have done here on the Island.

I will also add that book to my list, I appreciate the recommendation!

Greetings all!

I am a recent college graduate working for the army teaching sport/performance psychology to soldiers. I am new to the investing world. About a month ago I read Rich Dad poor dad and a fire was ignited inside me. I haven't stopped reading and learning since. It lead me to this site where I plan to learn as much as possible and network while I form my LLC and explore the local real estate.

Sincerely,

Matt
