@Amanda G. @Jason D. Thanks for your input.  I was hoping that a class would get me most of the way there or at least give me a starting point to gain experience.  What would you guys suggest doing in order to be able to competently asses a property along with any major issues? i.e. what do you believe are the best ways to gain experience/knowledge?

@Jenna Zebrowski for morale and marketing reasons, I would like to allow any animal that doesn't make me liable, within reason of course. I would just like to know what i would be liable for

@Jay Hinrichs what type of insurance for myself would cover dogs? Homeowners? Does most homeowner insurance cover liability?
@Amanda G. The purpose of becoming an inspector for me would be both. Saving money and not having to put $10,000 into a repair i didnt see coming. The math seems to say that its worth it.

Hello,

I'm going to be a first time MF buyer and plan on house hacking.  I have a dog myself and, therefore, will have to allow pets in other units as well.  What liability falls on me, the landlord, if there are animals living in my units?  Does the law protect landlords from problems like bites if the size or breed varies?  i.e if someone gets bit from a dog living in my building, am I more liable if that dog is a 50lb pitbull than if it is a 15lb yorkie?

I am from Ohio and plan on investing in my first Multifamily within the next year. I have found that in Ohio, inspections can cost between 300 and 600 dollars. After doing some research, I found that I may be able to become certified in residential inspection for under a grand. Has anyone tried to become an inspector as an investor and what was your experience like?
Hey guys, Before I make my first purchase (I'm looking at a few small MFH) what kinds of professionals should I absolutely make sure to have by my side BEFORE I own the property?
@Lynnette E. Wow that was an incredible explanation. Thank you for taking the time to write that for me!
