Good Evening @Colten Bishop, my wife and I are currently trying to sell our house to get into a home with a suite very similar to what you have done. We also live in Edmonton. What have you learned in the time that you have house 'hacked' in Edmonton? Would you have done anything differently? Are you pleased with this method to start into real estate investing? We have two kids and so we would be looking at a home where we can occupy the main floor(s) and rent out the basement. Thanks for the input.

Hey All,

My wife, two kids and I live in Alberta Canada and we have recently decided to try and get into real estate investing. One of my biggest motivators to get into the market is to have a form of passive income. I highly value my time with my family and even more so am so privileged to have a job that can support my family while my wife is at home with our two toddlers. In order to keep my family a priority over working full time as an employee for my income, I believe that real estate investment is a way that we can supplement our household both in the short and long term.

I had the privilege of growing up on a farm and am now a mechanical engineer. I look forward to learning from those of you who have been down a similar road. Thanks for all of your insight and I look forward to hearing from you.
