Post: Evict non-paying roommate?

Hi BP,

So here is the deal. My tenant allowed her exboyfriend to stay with her because the guy was laid-off and had no other place to go. But now the ex-bf is refusing to leave and not paying anything. She called cops on him but they can't make him leave because he is technically a resident of the house since he has stayed for so long.

What should I do as a landlord to sort this out? Evicting my tenant would be my last option because she is never late on her rent and keeps the property in good shape.

Tech is a great guess! That is my guess as well. We do have alot of government jobs too which tends to be fairly secure employment.

Another interesting point from the effect of the pandemic is that more and more tech companies will ask their employees wfh. So fever for places like the bay area and Austin may be simmering down in the near future as tech companies are contracting their office space in those places and drive down the price. Not sure how that will pan out.

Post: Eviction in Tarrant County

Hi all, I have a couple questions regarding the eviction in Tarrant county.

I have a duplex with executed contract. However, after due diligence on the existing tennants I found out that the tennants in one of the units have unpaid balance and late fees starting from October this year. I am set to close this deal in Jan so here are my questions.

1) Does the unpaid balance with the previous landlord will be carried over to me? in other words, do I, the new landlord have claim over the unpaid balance?

2) Can I start eviction immediately after I close since there is unpaid balance?

3) Can anyone share their experience dealing with eviction?

Hi BP! I am new to here, currently I am investing in the DFW market and I have closed a duplex deal in Fort Worth. For future maintenence purpose, I want to find a handyman who can help out with the maintenence request. Is there any tips of how to find a qualified and fair-priced handyman in the area?
