Seems like I asked the question in the right place then. We have a couple of rental properties under an LLC and our private home in our names. We are acquiring 2 apartments in the Dominican Republic for STR's. I did some reading on creating a trust for personal assets and would like to learn more about structuring assets using a trust and LLC's. Some material or book that helps me understand which arrangement does what for asset protection and taxes would be great.
Thanks,
Richard

Hello,
Does anyone have any experience with using LLC's and trusts to hold investment properties?

Thanks for the reply Neal. This will not be my first rental but the first STR. The apartments we are buying are in Punra Cana, Dominican Republic. The development is a new closed residence with several projects within. They offer management and claim to handle everything for 20% of the rental fee. We plan to start off using them but would like to investigate self managing as well. Our out of state rentals are held in a LLC and we plan to hold the properties in Punta Cana the same way. We should have the first one in just over 1 month. I would like to find someone who could advise the best legal structure for this situation in terms of tax implications.
Thanks again,
Richard

Hello,
I am fairly new again to this site. I was interested in some information about owning and managing Short Term Rentals overseas. To be more exact I am interested in owning Short Term Rentals in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and managing them from New York. Does anyone here have any advise or information that would be helpful.
Thanks,
Richard
