Hey Scott, I'm new to REI but I will say that my investing strategies will focused on multi-family properties (1-4 units). I know you asked if it was crazy to invest in multi-family, I don't think so. I've been looking around Norfolk and have find quite a few potential properties. I haven't settled on an exact location or neighborhood because I'm still driving around and looking. I'm finding that a lot of the best locations are where the blue-collar workers are located. Perhaps some of the more experienced multi-family investors in the area could elaborate more on this but I figured I'd add some of my initial findings at least. Best of luck!

Hello Mike and welcome to BP. I'm glad to see you are looking to purchase properties in the Hampton Roads area. I'm just starting out in REI but I wish you the best. I'm beginning my investing in multi-family properties. If there is anything I could help you with, please feel free to reach out.

Hello BP friends!

I'm a newer member to BP, but I neglected to make a proper introduction. I really enjoyed all of the information that I read early in December, so I decided to become a PRO member shortly thereafter.

I'm originally from the Hampton Roads area but I moved to Australia at the age of 11. I eventually found my way back to Virginia during the final 2 years of college. My background is somewhat diverse, as I've worked in a few different industries: Higher Education, Healthcare and Finance. My corporate job title is "Business Systems Analyst" but my personal job title is "Visionary of my Real Estate Empire" (corny, but hey).

My most relevant background experience would have to be in Finance. I was a day trader and educator for a hedge fund where my focus was in FOREX and Futures. I was a technical trader and didn't trade the fundamentals (which I now somewhat regret). I was aware of the fundamentals, but that was only to follow the economic calendar to know when I would not be trading.

I'm a numbers guy. How my day trading background will translate into my real estate investing goals - I'm still not 100% sure, but I'm getting there. I've always been interested in real estate investing as a means to grow my wealth; however, I've never even purchased a home. I'm a greenhorn through and through when it comes to the Real Estate Investing realm.

I am very eager to learn all that I can about REI. I have read multiple books and a lot of the forums/blogs posts on BP. As for my real estate goals, I'm looking to invest in multi-family homes (1-4 units) in the Hampton Roads area. My goal in 2016 is to have 4 properties.

I'm excited for connecting and getting to know all of my BP family! Anyone in the Hampton Roads area looking to connect, please reach out! If anyone has any pointers, useful articles or good jokes - feel free to share.
