Depends on what your doing. If you only have one rental property it doesn’t make sense to do an s-Corp. if you have multiple you can have the s-Corp own the llc or llcs for added protection. S-Corp can own llc and still own other businesses as well. But there are cost you have to consider. (Lawyer fees, entity cost, bank accts., and etc) I have a lawyer and cpa handle those things for me because they understand how the structures benefit me as an investor. 

I’m in Chicago so I mainly invest here. Not opposed to other places if it looks good when I run my numbers. About the meet ups we get together on a weekly basis. Thursday evenings. We can grab some coffee and talk some real estate before. And go from there if that sounds good to you.

I’m happy to hear that you and your wife are ready to make the transition into real estate it’s really an amazing. I would like to connect with you and introduce to some people doing some great things in real estate.

Always nice to see motivated people here on BP. Welcome @Ted Boucard comsider what type of properties you would like to pursue first. Secondly understand the risk that come with those properties. When your ready for action start developing a team. Realtor, lawyer, contractor and other professionals to help and protect you as an investor. Most important step of all. Learn and keep learning. I’ve never seen the same day twice as an investor and I learn on the fly. Through education and my own experience. Good luck to you and I hope you get everything and more out of real estate.
