Tenant still wants to get the 75gallon on cList and was trying to guilt-trip me that if he miss the deal it will be on me. heh i didnt say anything about him not storing it in his apartment  for his future 'crib' just that it would be a huge risk to our floors and structure a tank that size full of water and rocks.

We will stand our ground at 20gallon due to maximum weight we are comfortable with on our floors and yes tenants are required per lease to open and keep active a renters  insurance policy but we do not check for active coverage except new leases and renewals as its typically prepaid for a year but I've heard there are monthly options now that tenants switch to after paying for annual one and getting the balance refunded.

warning, not for the faint of heart or those who ate, are eating, or going to eat anytime son!

Last time I rode the NYC subway, in 2009, a homeless entered the crowded car during evening rush hour sat down on a bucket sit and began taking a crap. One of the straphangers shouted 'When you gotta go, you gotta GO!'.

We were seemingly all holding out breath, and of course when next stop reached, fled the car.

I wondered, what if there was a long delay before the next stop? There had been many times prior when subway cars would sit in one spot for hours between stops on multiple occasions, due to 'police investigations' etc, often full of people including myself opening the mini windows trying to get some air in, as our breathing condensed on the glass and metallic surfaces all around.

I do hope somehow the traffic control keeps up with Downtown LA's ongoing development into a megacity the likes of NYC.

My hope was to move cross country for more space and higher quality of living despite both LA & NYC being such densely population areas. At least Downtown LA has more space to spread out; whereas downtown NYC has only the tiny narrow island of Manhattan (New York County) unless we count downtown Brooklyn etc as part of downtown NYC.

I'll never forget the walk from work downtown Manhattan to Forest Hills, Queens back in 9/2001 when everything was shut down. Nor the smell of the incinerated thousands of bodies (RIP) that lingered for weeks upon weeks around pretty much all the 5 boros & NJ.

The SURGE in evictions across USA article? (link below)

http://www.boston.com/business/personal-finance/20...

As for the trillions of dollars in debt US continues to bury itself in, no surprise the 2 largest expenses are military and social security/unemployment/labor.

Most evictions arent happening in middle class household cuz middle class households nowadays are practically extinct;  i'd approximate that 95% Americans are now either poor  or a few, rich. And just the balance, some 5%, are middle class.

Sue, you're such an amazing resource to bP. Please don't ever leave!

Frankly it never even crossed my mind that the desired 75g tank would literally weigh half a TON after all is said and done. So will use the 'no smaller than the largest television in the household' prescription to point out that the larger, the heavier too, and the wording does not specify a maximum weight for safety yet commonsense dictates their ought to be one.

Anything over a couple hundred pounds (around the weight of a large human being and/or pieces of furniture typically found residentially), would pose a significant structural risk thus we will limit capacity to like u say 20 gallons max due to structural weight constraints.

while more than 4 resident units are treated as commercial, i'm surprised to hear that any building legally with over 4 res units can use units as commercial ie restauarants, etc in WI, apparently. really? RM-? or??

Tenant has informed that is suffering from anxiety disorder and provided letter from therapist recommending 'stress-relieving aquarium' of 'proportional size to the living area, no smaller than the largest television in patient's household'.

Indicated found a great deal on cList for a 75 gallon saltwater aquarium with fish & coral and going to pick up this week. Apt is on ground level (first floor) with ceramic tile floors throughout.

Current lease has no pets and no water-bearing furniture clause. How would you handle this?
