Hello BP,

I was wondering if any note investors can recommend a real estate-focused CPA that understands note investing.

Thank you in advance,

Neil

Post: The Fed & mortgage-backed securities question

Hello,

I just read an article today in the New York Times about the Federal Reserve and inflation (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/11/business/econom... ). In it, it mentions that the Fed started reducing its holdings of mortgage-backed securities in September by about $10 billion/month.

Does this mean Fannie Mae is now dumping $10 billion worth of notes (mortgages) into the secondary market to be bought and sold by banks, mutual funds, and note investors? If so, is this a larger amount then usual or fairly typical? And is this a buying opportunity individual note investors are seeing now or will be in the near future?

Thank you for your thoughts.

Neil

In going over eligibility requirements of a solo 401(k), it appears a SDIRA LLC may be the route to go in my situation. I currently generate income through a government contract, but it ends May 2018.

Thank you for your time Dmitriy and Justin!

Thank you both for your replies (and for the links to the articles, Dmitriy).

With regard to my current Roth IRA, is it correct to assume that I can remove (without penalty) an amount equal to my contributions and open a self-directed Solo 401k plan? And since those are after-tax contributions, would they fall under the built-in Roth component?

Hi BP,

Like many buy-and-hold REIs, I'm getting hung up on what entity to form with regard to investing in notes.

Have most of you formed an LLC? My understanding is that some exchanges will only sell to an LLC or company, as opposed to an individual.

And for those of you using a self-directed retirement account, have you formed a SDIRA LLC or are you using a solo 401(k)?

Currently, my wife and I own several rental properties in our name -- not in an LLC. For note buying, I'm planning on rolling my traditional Roth IRA into a self-directed Roth IRA LLC.

Your collective knowledge on the subject is appreciated!

Thank you,

Neil

Hi everyone, I'm new to notes and I was thinking of attending NoteExpo in Dallas November 3 & 4. Has anyone been in the past that can speak to whether it's worth the time & $? Is attending recommended for someone new to notes? Anyone on BP attending this year? Thank you, Neil

Thank you, everyone, for your opinions and insights with regard to radon testing and the sewer scope. I will have both performed on the property.
