@Ben Sylvester

Hi Ben,

My wife and I moved into an owner occupied duplex in Manchester back in April. We quickly fixed up the downstairs when we learned the existing tenant would be leaving and got it rented out for significantly more than the previous tenant was paying. New paint in all rooms, new floor in kitchen, new (used) appliances off of FB marketplace. We live on second and third floor and plan to stay about five years, and in the meantime look for more rentals. Let me know if you have any questions about the area or looking for owner occupied spots. I’d say the financing part of this process is the most important to nail down since you have more options than a traditional rental property.

Thanks everyone. Great points. I’ll be looking for another agent tomorrow.

@Charles Carillo

Appreciate the response Charles! For brand new areas, how would you recommend going about getting those referrals?

I’ve narrowed down out of state areas I would like to invest in. One of the agents I have spoken with is very knowledgeable, grew up in the area, and knows many people to help build a team. The problem is that he is very unresponsive. I won’t hear back for days on end, and text messages are hit or miss when I reach out. Do I stick with this guy because of his connection with the community, or do I just move on and find someone else? Thanks all!
