So ADT will try to upsell everything, its there job. You need to find a security system that can have multiple partitions. Then you can program certain doors to those partitions. Then program end user to each partition. Basically if the tenant is allowed to go thru a practicular door they can, if they have no reason to ever enter that door then the alarm can sound off. Honeywell makes a system like this but there are more out there. Reach out to an alarm company in your area and take it from there. Take care.

Hi Brandon, so an NVR system is an IP based security system (Network video recorder) while DVR is an analog recorder (Digital video recorder). Regardless of the system they are temperature sensitive, so you have to treat them like a computer. You might be able to get a discount on insurance but most of the time thats for burglar alarm system and fire alarm system with a certificate from the licensed company. Honestly for single family homes any system that offers 1080p resolution will get the job done. Go with an minimum of 8 channel system, they come in 4,8,16,32ch. With large memory capacity 2tb+. Honestly to review this type of footage is tedious and you create another job for yourself. Speak with the tenants and throw them $20 - $30 towards the wifi bill and run a direct line to the recorder. If youre going to have the recorder in the house have a lock box and UPS(back up battery source). You might be looking at 800-2000 in labor and equipment but its worth it in the long run. Good luck with everything.

As long as youre not putting cameras inside there living space you dont have to worry about breaking any privacy laws. Good luck.

Depending on which NFPA 72 code your town has adopted, which can change every few years. From experience the main panel can be in a separate room but you'll need digital remote annunciators display at each entrance. Good luck

The idea behind it is life safety, its a cost of doing business unfortunately. The laws and codes could careless about your pockets. A work around option would be a fire alarm system with multiple smoke detectors throughout the property but then you have to involve an engineer, fire alarm/security company, in some places an electrician to install the work, local fire marshal, additional monthly service fees and/or contracts. Good luck with everything.

From my experience in commercial properties like Michael mentioned IP (POE)systems would be ideal. The flexibility in installation but could get complex if youre doing it yourself. Analog technology has come a long way which is the old style of cameras but still provide 1080p - 4k recording. Take into account the recording storage, with cloud recording there might be a monthly fee while onsite recording theres in upfront fee for the hard drives. Dont just ask questions, ask detailed questions if you decide to involve contractors. Good luck.

Hi, I know the post is old already but here goes. Any newer system have that capability with mobile viewer. There are various brands everfocus, digital watchdog, Invid, toshiba, Axis, etc. There are also hybrid systems with IP/Analog. If you have questions let me know. Take care.
