Hello, I've been doing research and preparing myself to buy a duplex and begin my Househacking journey. I'm Not to Familiar yet with MLS yet, but was wondering what kind of advantages I may have being a first time home buyer? I will most likely be utilizing a Va loan to buy the property in Norfolk Virginia. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

@David Pere thank you David. I like the zero down option. Having reserves would be a huge plus for me.

@Twana Rasoul Thank you. That is the strategy I was leaning towards. Having a nice cash cushion in these times would definitely eliminate some stress.

So I am a 30% disabled vet who has yet to use the VA home Loan program. I am aware of the many benefits that the VA loan offers. My question is would you recommend buying a househack zero down and keeping the 30k you have set aside for a 2nd Investment property down the road? Thanks for your time!

@Corey Chonsky Thanks a lot for your input Corey. Im definitely open to the different areas around Norfolk. I did live here for a couple years while in the service and there’s not particular area I’m set on buying.
