My daughter is driving to the nearest city that has an IRS office for me tomorrow. Ridiculous hoops to jump through...

This has been going on for months and months due to the IRS' incompetence. We already sent in things to prove that he lives at that address, along with the land contract. Now they want proof we recorded it AND the 1098 AND more info showing he lives at that address by Monday or they are going to deny it. Don't ask me why.....

I mistakenly did not generate a 1098 for the mortgage interest for our buyers (2009) on land contract. They don't care, they didn't want to itemize and it wasn't that much interest, but the IRS wants to see it by Monday or they won't give them (and thereby, us) the homebuyer tax credit.

The IRS is the only place you can get these it looks like. You can't print them online. I called IRS and it'll be 7-15 days to get it, too late. Can anyone help?

I said if I had to, as in if I were forced to choose between never ending it and ending it now. I'd rather grandfather it out. But I fell for your forced choice scenario. I forgot, that's what you all like to do, make up forced choice ethical scenarios to make it look like people are uncaring.

Read my lips, Medicare was a stupid idea. It should never have happened.

But since it did, and we are caring, compassionate people, we would grandfather it out so that younger people had time to get used to the idea of actually taking care of themselves again.

Funny, you didn't comment on Mr. Jefferson's quotes.....

If I had to choose, I'd end it right now. And churches and families should take up the slack.

And we should all read this:

"The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining NOR aiding them in their pursuits." - Thomas Jefferson "A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government." - Thomas Jefferson "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." - Thomas Jefferson "To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it." - Thomas Jefferson

Mike is just kind enough to not take something away from elderly people that was (mistakenly) promised to them....and then phase out a bad program for us younger people.

You're right Mike, I forgot what this was all about. We're all too stupid to make our own decisions, and the nanny state knows so much better. I mean, it has always worked so well in all the countries where it's been tried, like Russia.

I didn't say the system we have now is perfect, it needs work. But Obama's ideas are the exact opposite of what we need. We need things more privatized, not beauracratized. I can fight my insurance company. It's not fun, but so far I've always gotten what I wanted/needed. In contrast, I worked for the VA system as a psychologist, and I worked in one that was considered fairly good. It STUNK!!!! I KNOW what govt. healthcare is going to look like, and believe me, you don't want it.
