Hey @Joe Fairless, thanks! I've only been looking at LA so far because it's all I know. However, I am open to other markets, it's just the fear of the unknown that makes me a little more hesitant. Would totally be open to learning about other places as well though.

Hi everyone,

Quick introduction, I'm a young(ish) doctor from Los Angeles and first got turned onto real estate after reading "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" like seemingly everyone else here. All my life I was told to work harder and that will someday equate to more "success". While I feel like that advice has paid off in some respects (I love what I do), I've slowly seen that this is not always the case. With a new family, I've realized that time is a scarce (and the most precious) commodity, and so I have to shift my focus to work smarter, not harder.

So, in the last two years, I've read anything I can get my hands on pertaining to real estate. Following the advice that to understand anything you have to immerse yourself in it, I got my broker's license and have been fortunate to do a few deals for friends this past year. Of course, I've learned so much in the process. Can't believe I just found BP, and have eaten up as much as I can on the site this last week. I think I'm focusing in on what my strategy will be (currently thinking buy/hold multifamily) and am looking for mentors & colleagues in this vast business. Thanks for letting me be part of the community!
