Welcome Ivan! In my opinion the podcast is one of the most important takeaways. If you're interested to see how other people did it and what other situations could apply to you that you never even considered, start listening and you'll be inspired.

@Joshua Carvalho

Thanks for the post. You know I live right by the mall as well.

I'll keep you in mind for when I actually get started. For now I'm waiting but actually I might have waited too long already. Prices have gone up quite a bit from what they were ...

As you say the south Florida market is crazy...

Thank you @Dave Visaya , @Swapna Barredy , @Brandon Turner , @John O'Leary , @Paul Timmins , @Dmitriy Fomichenko , @Tamika Bunnell.

I'm not sure why only half of the names come through and the other half doesn't. I appreciate your warm welcome. :) I'll see you around on the site!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forums, but I've been with biggerpockets for quite some time. For the last two years I've been listening to the podcast (which, by the way is genius! Keep up the good work Josh and Brandon!) and have been reading forum posts and the blogs. I bought some of the books that were recommended on the podcast (again, genius!) and I think this website is unique.

A little bit about myself: Originally from Germany, I met my wife while I was volunteering abroad and after some long distance we married and I moved to South Florida where she was living. I moved to the states in 2012 and have been busy with my Masters until recently.

Since I discovered real estate I've always had it in the back of my mind and even though I haven't gotten active yet, I think it's the way to go and it is something I plan to pursue more actively in the future.

Even though Miami inspires the ideas of real estate - seeing houses appreciate greatly in a short amount of time I'm not sure it's the best place to start in this area. Miami has incredible luxury real estate with apartments on the beach going for millions, but it's an expensive niche.
