Hey J Scott, I'm a new member at BP and wannabe investor. Thanks for putting this all up, its a really cool thread. I hope to get into development myself, once I get my feet wet on some renovation projects.
Can't wait to see where this all goes.

Hi Boomer.
Thanks for the shout. I'm on IOP. We moved down here about 2 yrs ago from New York City. Decided give the beach a try. So far so good.
Lets definitely get a coffee sometime.

Hey Thanks Brandon Turner. I've really enjoyed the podcasts. I've listened to all of them and they've helped give me the confidence to figure this all out. I've also already checked out your article How to buy a small Multifamily Property. It's great. thanks.
Btw, I have to credit you for getting me to this site, I originally found realestateinyourtwenties.com and followed you over here.
My biggest issue in getting started is deciding which direction to take. I realize I can always adjust it, but its held me up a bit. That and having an 8month old and a 3yr old. My dilemma is whether to go the passive income route or to be a bit more agressive and try to get to a point where investing is a full-time job.
I think my ultimate goals are to
1. have a lot more flexibility
2. create lasting wealth for my family
3. improve the urban environment/community
One think I didn't mention is that I'm an architect by day and I've had experience designing large multi-family properties. (when living in NYC) Where I think I'd ultimately like to be is developing new properties, but it makes sense to me to start by adding value to existing properties to get a handle on the business in general.
Thanks again for all you do here. I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions as I get closer to my first deal.

Hi everyone on BP,
I'm an aspiring real estate investor/developer in Charleston, South Carolina.
I've been lurking here on Bigger Pockets for awhile, reading as much as possible and listening to all the podcasts, but I've neglected getting involved in the site until now.
I'm still educating myself, but I'd like to begin focusing on small multi-family investing with the ultimate goal of developing urban infill projects.
I have a full-time job as well as a family which has kept me from moving too quickly. I'd love to hear advice from those out there with young kids about starting out while maintaining the work-life balance.
Also, anyone in the Charleston area, I'd love to connect with you. I've only lived in the area for the last 2 years so I'm still trying to get a handle fon the best locations to invest.
Thanks to everyone involved in BiggerPockets, especially Josh and Brandon. It's an amazing resource.
