@Jamison Schweitzer I love it. Where abouts on the west coast did you do some flipping? By “project” I didn’t necessarily mean a major rehab although we would be open to properties that require extensive rehab. How are you liking the duplex in CR? We’ve been very cautious about buying up there.

@AJ Leman relationships, that’s a very common answer. Says a lot about the need to network in this business! We’re looking for buy and hold rentals and aren’t afraid to rehab if need be. Single family/ small multi family. We’ve had a lot of deals brought to us from wholesalers in CR, and the numbers make sense on paper but the neighborhoods seem less than ideal as far as tenants go. Have you liked your experience with tenants in Washington and Coralville?

What are the most important things to look for/questions to ask while walking through potential investments? I’ve heard some people say that walking through properties isn’t necessary especially for those investing “long distance” what are your thoughts on this?

Hey There BiggerPockets Community, I am a student at the Univeristy of Iowa ,studying finance, and I have developed a passion for real estate investing which has led me here to BiggerPockets! I read Brandon Turners book on how to buy real estate with little to no money down and that was how I found BiggerPockets. I love the idea of passive income and spend a lot of my time free reading about real estate investing. I want to invest in single family buy and hold and eventually scale my way up to much larger properties.
