Hi Everyone,

I truly appreciate the information and responses. The support and sharing of information/experience is worth the $39.99 a month 😂. Seriously, this has been great.

I recently came across a scholarship opportunity with Keller Williams Infinity and their Keller Successful Career Opportunities in Real Estate  (KSCORE) program through Kaplan. So, I’m in the process of completing some pre-approval requirements and should be starting the course later in March.

As @Blake B. mention, I very much interested in any upcoming real estate meetup or networking opportunities. If you have any or want to connect shoot me a DM.

Again, appreciate the responses.

Happy New Year!

I am looking to become a real estate agent in Illinois and just wanted to see if there are any recommended courses that current agents have used before or what are some of the best ones out there. Also, if there are any opportunities to shadow any local agents.

Looking forward to you all responds.

Kenny, I appreciate it. I’ve been reading and listening to podcasts every second I get this past month. Thanks to John, I’ll be adding in the meetups now.

@Rasheed Ward welcome to the forums! You are in the right place for sure to meet most of the active folks here in Chicago. I would recommend that you attend a local meetup. You can find a really great list on the Straight Up Chicago Investor's Podcast website here:

Chicago Real Estate Investor Meetups (straightupchicagoinvestor.com)

John, thanks for the information…. Local meetups was going to be my next question. Weekly meetups is part of the plan going into the new year.

Welcome! How are you planning on getting the first investment property?

If you're interested I can send you a list of resources I've found useful with getting started in real estate investing.

Paul, thanks for the connection. My current plan is to use an FHA loan, as I would be living in the property as well. I would appreciate any resources, thank you kindly.

Rasheed - welcome to BP! Glad to have you. What type of investment strategies interest you? Are you looking for certain property type?

Jack, I appreciate the welcome and love the Austin area by the way. I am looking to start out with a multi-family home, 3-4 units preferably.

Chicago, born and raised, currently reside in the in Lincoln Square area. New to real estate and looking to network/connect with individuals (throughout Illinois and surrounding states) as I prepare to purchase my first property. Open to mentorships, volunteer/unpaid work, paid work, meetups, or anything that would provide growth as an investor.

Hey Jessica,

Similarly, I have been looking into AirBnB arbitrage and think Forth Worth has a lot to offer and can potentially be a great fit. I am interested and would like to know more about this opportunity.

As I look to start my real estate investing journey, I am interested in property management for short-midterm rentals. I understand it’s a lot of investor who do not want to deal with the tenants, cleaning, and normal upkeep of their properties. So, I am looking to be that guy. Any information, tips, tricks, etc on how to get started.
