@Grant Kemp, I don't mind all the positive vibe. Definitely can keep if going on the thread.
If there is a meeting, please let me know. I would like to get some insight from locals.

@Jeff Greenberg
Thanks for the feedback! I have been looking in the surrounding areas also. I like the area I'm at because I am close to some hot pockets in Texas. I feel Austin is a pretty tight and may not be beneficial for me to start, unless the right place comes along.

Thanks Thom for your input! I have been thinking about doing this as well on getting back to the corporate world. The lending situation is the only thing holding me back now.
Thanks,
Ray

Thanks Jon! I am looking forward to it. I have been learning a lot already. I think the hardest part is making your first acquisition.

Thanks Lyall!
It is quite refreshing to get some new advice instead of bumping ideas to myself. Lol.
My goals are to start small and receive side income through renting multi-family homes. Eventually, it would be nice to flip houses and make it full time. But I didn't want start where I was not comfortable.
For the private lending, do you have any lenders that could speak to. It is really the only thing that is holding me back. I would like to pull the trigger on a property this year.
Thanks!

Hello All!!
I have been wanting to get into REI for awhile now and am very please to find BP. I am looking to start in duplexes and keep learning from there. Is this a good way to start?
I have a question about lenders. I am self-employed and have been working in my position for over a year now and I know you have to be self employed for atleast 2 years. Is there any way around this?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
