I heard about the book, Weekend Millionaire. In fact, I was checking it out yesterday at the local bookstore in Houston, where I'm at this week. They seem to offer some good tips, but I didn't buy. I'm thinking of getting it on Amazon.

Using bird-dogs is a good idea. I'll certainly look at finding some in Michigan.

Thanks.

REI,

One of the reasons I'm getting in the game is because of the near real estate meltdown in Michigan, or so I've heard. I moved here from NJ a few months ago. And I couldn't believe what I could buy for my money. I figured, if there was any time to get in, now was my chance.

I work in the IT industry. Is it me or are most real estate investors from the IT industry? Anyway, I grew up being told to get a good job working for someone. Out of college, my goal was to climb the technical corporate ladder to say, CIO. I'm a real techie. But after 8 yrs of working, I'm no longer interested in that. I want to start my own thing, and real estate is the start.

The Detroit market I've heard has been bad. But I've also heard money can be made. So I'll surely update everybody as I gain the experience.

4rmgt,

Any information you can provide would be helpful. I actually came across the WCRT website. I'd like to attend a club meeting, but I travel for work during the week. Maybe one day, I can make it to one of the Saturday seminars. I also recently joined the National Real Estate Network club. Unfortunately, since joining, I've been traveling so I haven't been to a meeting. Any ideas you, or anyone, have about getting started while still traveling for work would be helpful.

Thanks for everyone's comments so far. I'm really glad I joined BP.

I am a wanna be investor. I have done no deals. I've only seen a few homes with a realtor. The issue I'm having is that I am starting part-time and I travel quite a bit for my full-time job. So I can't see any homes during the week in my area.

I've done enough book reading to know that it would be unwise to quit my job and do real estate full-time now. So that's not an option right now. However, given that I travel each week, and only have the weekends, what are some good ways to start?

Wholesaling? Bird-dogging? I guess I can always find a realtor who can preview a number of homes for me during the week, and weed out the really bad ones. But how do I find such a realtor willing to do this for a new investor?

Hi all,

I am a wanna be investor in real estate living in the Metro Detroit area in Michigan. I've been on the REI sidelines for a few years now, reading books and internet articles. I recently moved to Michigan, and with the state of the real estate market, I figured right now is about time to get off the bench and get into the game. I look forward to getting and offering (as I build experience) valuable advice here.
