Expletive! I just found this a couple days too late.
Oh well. Next time. I can really use some actual human interfacing to go along with all the research i've been doing to help my brain connect some dots (and hopefully make some connections.)

So, i just looked into getting backdated as an AU on an AmEx card so i can open my own backdated card. Apparently, they stopped doing this perk April of this year.

@Kyle J. Yep. I ran my annual free credit report and that's how i saw they were showing up. i'll definitely look into Credit Karma, though. I feel like playing around with that simulator could answer a lot of my questions. Grazie!

I'm listed as an authorized user on a few of my parents' credit cards. My plan is to buy my first investment property in about 18 months and i'm trying to get my credit score as high as possible during this time.
Their credit history is excellent, but their cards do have a fair amount of debt held on them. Removing myself as an authorized user could either help my score (lower utilization ratio) or hurt my score (shorten my credit history, make the few dings on my credit more prevalent.)
Is there a formula or a resource somewhere i can use to find out if de-authorizing me from those cards will help or hurt my score?

Hello all. I'm a native NYer who lived in Portland from 2005 through 2014. I'm back in NYC right now, but my goal is to invest in my first 2 to 4 plex in PDX within the next 18 months. Right now i'm still in my learning/research phases. I mostly wanted to say hello.
If anyone knows any Portland specific resources for research that they found incredibly useful, it would greatly appreciated if you shared.
Also, are there any peculiarities you've found about the PDX market that might be unique to the city?
Thanks
-Rob

Thanks again for the welcomes from all the additional greeters! I'm sure the more i learn, the more questions i'll have. Been doing lots of book reading, BP blog reading, and BP Podcast listening so far.

Hello all.
Rob here. Live in Astoria, Queens. Originally from Brooklyn/Staten Island, I recently returned to NY after living in Portland Oregon for 9 years.
I have a background in Audio Engineering and Music Production, plus day jobs with benefits. No experience in real estate, but i'm pretty convinced that investments + revenue streams is a better way to live than hourly/salary pay.
My goal is to find a rental property to invest in, in either Portland or NYC, within the next 18 months. Longer term, i'd like to mix real estate investments combined with other income generating endeavors. For now, i'm looking to learn and connect as much as possible before my first investment!
