You sure are showing motivation and direction. You might have to wait a bit longer to qualify which strategies are working. Coming from the California market some years ago (before the BIG Drop) I understand the heat in the market there. Do your due diligence and don't jump the gun before. I'd say a good week.

I did the RS courses including the mentoring part. Very expensive way to figure out that there are many other ways to get general information. And being in one state investing in another, and have mentoring from another state (Utah) doesn't cut it.

Discovered that the mentor had purchased his 3rd house and working on another. He knew nothing about the local area or state that I was wanting to invest in. Seldom called or was available during our appointed time(s) to make contact. And the RS group wanted me to extend my mentoring contract $$..

I'd never do it again.

Read the books, find local mentor, enlist a friend to help you stay on target, and make contacts....

Jon, no, it's just the opposite. The challenges are not having knowledge of the local market, contractors, agents, property managers, etc. It could work if one had the right property manager(s) in a buy and hold situation. I've been through many PM's. And without a garage full of tools I can't do many of the things and must rely on others (clean up, make ready, painting..).

When all is well than rv'ing makes no difference and is a great way to meet others, see and speak with investors in other areas, etc. and see this great country.

Thanks Brandon and Darren. What I can contribute would be what not to do or reinforce what is already stated in this awesome site. Glad I found this site. From what I've seen so far very honest from what I've seen at other forums, clubs, etc. Refreshing.

Hi, I currently have 3 single family rentals in the SA area. I've been in real estate since 2005. Having retired, I travel across the USA in our RV and stop in the SA area during the winter months to watch over the properties.

I've joined BiggerPockets to network and learn and re-learn RE investing. I'm trying to decide which direction to go vs. my current buy and hold strategy.

And I look forward to meeting other members and their opinions, experiences, etc via this great cyber landscape.
