Hey Eric, As Arpan mentioned, a good place to start would be going to some networking events in the area. Really good ones are CCIA, Chicago REÍA ran by Andrew Holmes, Josh Inglis' event in the north side, on Kedzie just north of Diversey, and the southside builders group. I personally host networking events myself in the west side, River Grove, right above Oak Park. We've got a Cashflow and Cocktails night coming up on the 28th and you're more than welcomed to come by. We get together, play Cashflow by Robert K. Network, drink and have fun. Good luck! //RR

There are many good ones like other members mentioned above. CCIA, WCRT, Josh Inglis event in Avondale, they're all really good. I also host a networking event in River Grove, at my friends bar, 3 Lounge. The next event we have is our monthly Cashflow and Cocktails Night. We get together, play Cashflow, eat, drink, and network. Great way to meet other investors and other professionals in the industry. //RR

Not yet as I work full time and in the learning process. But I do know a lot of investors in my area who live off investing in real estate.

In fact, I know a guy who has 1,500 units. Others with 27, 40, 100, etc. But what I have observed correlates with a lot of the comments here. They fund them using flip money as well as doing lease options inside self directed retirement plans and other strategies.

I do plan on starting part time and eventually move to do it full time.

Congrats to all of you who have worked your way to becoming a full time investorand living off solely investing income.

#36 is very clever, i like it the best

REI clubs are great for networking with local investors, finding people to partner with, finding resouces and getting your name out there

Thank you Michael, Brian, Kathy and James for the warm welcome :)

After doing quite a bit of research, taking courses on all the different types of strategies, legal advice on the vast pitfalls of real estate investing, negotiating, etc. I came to the conclusion that wholesaling would be the best way to jump start my investing career, due to the minimal risks involved, not as much money to acquire and pass on contracts. Also, the fact that it requires getting good at locating properties/deals, making connections with other investors, banks, home owners, etc. will come in handy later on on my investing career.

Thank you again for the warm welcome. I look forward to making great connections and if you're around the Chicagoland area don't hesitate to contact me. I'd be glad to get to meet other investors in the area and help any way I can.

Hi everyone.
Been visiting and reading for a little while here on the forums and the blog but finally decided to introduce myself :D

About me. I'm a 22yr old Design Engineer who is getting started in the real estate investing industry. Been soaking up a lot of knowledge over the last 6+ months and I feel ready to get my feet wet with investing.

I have been in contact with a few REO realtors in my area but nothing so far in the area where I want to invest.

Looking forward to getting to know many of you and learn as much as I can. There's always something new to learn everyday :)
