Hi @Diana Jing! FHA is certainly the way I'm looking to go based on what I'll be able to have for a downpayment. I'm hoping to find a lender in the next couple of months to see what I'll be able to qualify for; hopefully I'll be able to secure a decent amount as my credit score is around 780 and I have no student loans. Glad to hear this route was successful for your first home--very inspiring. :) Hopefully I can replicate that success!

Thanks for the welcome @Amber Gonion. Hopefully I'll run into you two at a  meetup sometime!

Hi everyone,

My name is Rich, and I relocated to Minneapolis in August of 2019 for a job at the University. I just finished 4 years of undergraduate and 5 years of graduate schooling. I have no student loans, but I moved to MN with less than a thousand dollars in savings. Ever since I started paying $2000 a month for rent I've been brainstorming how I can buy something to live in as soon as possible. Funny enough, I was considering every alternative except REI itself. I'm working my way through Craig's house hacking book now and am hoping to buy my first multi-family around July so I don't have to rent for another year. I'm looking forward to getting to know the BiggerPockets community!

Rich
