Post: New Real Estate Licensee - Brokerage Selection

Hi Michael,
Congratulations on getting your real estate license! All of the choices that you listed are good candidates, but I think it's worthwhile for you to go interview with the brokerage to see if they meet your needs. Some of my considerations were training/mentoring, flexibility in time, commission splits, reputation of the brokerage, and goals that brokerages may instill on their agents. I'm also a real estate agent in Northern Virginia, and I decided to go with a smaller brokerage since I am doing real estate part time. Feel free to message me if you have any further questions. Good luck with your brokerage search.
Thanks!
Richard

Hi all,
I am interested in learning more, and have been looking up real estate certificates from accredited colleges. A particular real estate certificate I was interested in, was the one provided at MIT. Has anyone taken the MIT Commercial Real Estate Analysis and Investment certificate? Any feedback you could give? Any other real estate certificates you would recommend / suggest?
Thanks!

I've attended a foreclosure auction in Fairfax, but it was at the courthouse and not at a private home. It was pretty competitive and a pretty neat experience. Interested to hear from others on this topic too.

Post: Thoughts on Real Estate Investing in Blacksburg, VA?

I am a real estate agent/investor currently living in Northern Virginia. I am also a Virginia Tech graduate (Go Hokies!). I have been considering in investing down in the Blacksburg, VA area. I would be looking more for a buy and hold strategy.
A couple of reasons listed below:
- Lower barrier to entry relative to Northern Virginia
- Possibly better cash flow (?); (Need to look into this more)
- In looking at the Virginia Tech master plan, the university is planning to grow
- Being able to stay involved in the community
Any thoughts or recommendations? Any investors in the same situation?
