@Stephen Jones Hey Stephen! I’m an investor and realtor here in Iowa City. The University of Iowa and large university hospital here provide for a very nice rental market. We have strong infrastructure for an out of state investor: excellent property managers, contractors, cleaning companies, etc.

I’m more than happy to do video tours of homes and get some leg work done for an out of state investor. Let me know if I can be of service!

I’m putting together a lease for a new tenant and trying to give myself a window of time between tenants to do some minor repairs on the property. I rent in a college town and lease dates here are usually pretty standard (Aug 1 - Jul 28). I was thinking of making my lease for (Aug 1 - Jul 25), but I’ve been wondering if this would pose a huge problem for tenants. I don’t know what they are supposed to do for 3 days, let alone 5 days when they are between leases.

How do you structure your lease dates?

@Syeed Shah I have a fourplex in Iowa City. We’ve been very satisfied with its performance so far. Iowa City is a university town and also has a large research hospital, so there are plenty of quality renters in the area. I’ll send you a PM.

Hey Mason, I’m in Iowa City and new to this as well. I Just got started with investing this year. I bought a fourplex, and two fixer properties since April 2020. Now I’m beginning a new career as a real estate agent in March. Feel free to hit me up if I can be of any assistance. Good luck on your new journey.

Does anyone know of a federal grant or tax program for companies building housing for active duty soldiers?

I’ve found a prime location to build an apartment complex. The area is situated between a college town and a military base, both of which are facing a housing shortage.

I have access to the post commander in case that is necessary to prove the need for the housing project.
