Jeffrey,

It is not a scam. I have completely looked into the company, and looked them up through the BBB. I just don't want to pay them 33% so I am trying to go around them.

Yes, I have already googled things, and the only thing that comes up is "state" unclaimed money through the state controllers office. It is not the same thing. This has to do with real estate transactions through the local and federal level. When you type a name into the unclaimed money sites it is for utility deposits, etc...Not the amount I am looking for. The people who do this type of work, claim that it is public record, but NOT state unclaimed money. Thank you!

Don,

Sorry no outstanding warrants! They are stating that the money will be sent directly to me, and then I pay them, but I have to sign over a power of Attorney.

Willingtolearn,
I have already checked those websites a few weeks ago, and the company clearly states that it is in fact beyond the state, and at a local and federal level. I changed the whole dynamic of my search to see where these types of companies find this information. I started researching on how to become a money finder, and got a little further but still no luck. The research has proven that with the state unclaimed funds, they are only allowed by law to charge a 10% fee. There is a loophole when it comes to these overages due to people, and they can charge people up to 50% to get the money back for them. Apparently people make a great living in doing this.

They are saying it is NOT state unclaimed funds. It was not found at that website, as I have looked in both states. There is a supposed list of overages due to individual's that are owed monies due to real estate transactions, real estate purchases, sales and that it is often times overpayments. They have also stated that it is public record, and can be found at the local and federal level. Thank you everyone for your input, it is greatly appreciated. I will continue my search. Does anyone know where I can find such lists?

I was recently contacted by a company who claims that they have found $4500.00 of money that is owed to me, but they will not state where I can find it because they want 33.33%. I need the money more than they do. They claim that it is not state unclaimed funds. I have invested in several different counties in properties, and am unsure where to begin my search. I have recently sold property in 3 counties, 2 in California, and one in Colorado. How do I find this money? I have contacted the tax assessor, and no luck. Can anyone help me please?
